This year’s “Army Run” takes place on Sunday, 17 September in Ottawa and we have runners that will be happy for our presence, our cheering, and our moral support. We are pleased to announce that Latvians living in and around Ottawa including Embassy staff will be joined by a team of five soldiers from Latvia.
Our runners have selected various distances – there is a 5km (starting at 8 a.m.), 10km (starting at 8:45 a.m.) and the 21.1km half marathon (starting at 9:30am – this is the race in which the soldiers from Latvia are taking part). The starting line for the races is at the intersection of Elgin and Laurier streets.
After the half marathon, around 12 noon, we will be celebrating runners and all those who have contributed to the marathon physically or “in spirit”, with refreshments and snacks at the Peace Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church (located at 83 Main Street).
The Latvian cheering station will be nearby where Main Street intersects with Colonel By Drive, the same place we have staked out on previous marathons.
