An Embassy of the Republic of Latvia in Canada was opened in Ottawa in the fall of 1994. The current Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia is H.E. Marģers Krams.

Prior to Ambassador Krams, the Embassy was headed by:

H.E. Dr. Georgs Andrejevs, accredited January 1996;

After the Republic of Latvia renewed its independence in 1991 but before an actual embassy was opened, a consulate under Honorary Consul-General Dr. Guntis Siliņš operated first in Toronto, but by 1992 in Ottawa.
