ES Directors General from Baltic and Nordic countries, Germany and Poland meet at Foreign Ministry [12 Mar 2010]

On March 12 in Riga, a meeting is held for EU Directors General from Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Finland, Denmark, Germany and Poland. Participants from member states will share opinions on preparing for the upcoming meeting of the European Council on 25-26 March, the new economic strategy of the EU for Growth and Employment, and the climate change policy. They will also discuss the progress with the implementation of the Treaty of Lisbon. Further items on the agenda are the EU enlargement and the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region.

In the event, Latvia is represented by Head of the European Union Directorate at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ilze Juhansone.

The meeting of the EU Directors General in the so-called NB6+2 format (the abovementioned Baltic and Nordic countries, Germany and Poland) is held twice a year in one of those countries, on a rotation basis.
