Foreign Minister Aivis Ronis to take part in Baltic states and Germany foreign ministers' meeting in Tallinn [10 Jun 2010]

On 11 June in Tallinn, Estonia, Foreign Minister Aivis Ronis will take part in the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Baltic states and Germany. 

The agenda of the meeting will cover the Baltic Sea region's issues, including the implementation of the Baltic Sea Strategy and energy security, as well as topics of current importance in international politics – NATO's new Strategic Concept, the situation in Afghanistan, UN's sanctions against Iran, as well as the relations of the European Union with Russia and other eastern partners.

This will be the 12th session of consultations among the Foreign Ministers of the Baltic states and Germany, first held on 28 August 1996 in Leipzig, Germany, on the initiative of the then Foreign Minister, Klaus Kinkel.  

The 10th meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Baltic states and Germany was convened on 2 May 2008 in Riga by the former Latvian Foreign Minister Māris Riekstiņš.
