Foreign Minister Māris Riekstiņš to meet with Vice Prime Minister of Israel [13 Apr 2010]

On 14 April, Foreign Minister Māris Riekstiņš will meet with Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Strategic Affairs of Israel, Moshe Ya'alon, who arrives in Latvia on a working visit.

During the meeting, it is expected to discuss the current development in the Latvian-Israeli relations, regional issues, as well as prospects for enhancing relations between the European Union and Israel.

As part of his visit, Mr Ya'alon will meet with Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis, Minister of Defence Imants Lieģis, and the Chairman of the Saeima Defence, Interior, and Corruption Prevention Commission, Juris Dalbiņš.

Mr Ya'alons competence covers security, intelligence, and diplomacy matters in relation to Iran, and the prevention of other strategic threat. The portfolio was created and has been functional with intervals since 2006.
