Foreign Minister Maris Riekstins to go on official visit to Georgia
On 10-11 September, Foreign Minister Maris Riekstins will be on an official visit to Georgia and will meet with President Mikheil Saakashvili of Georgia, the Parliament Speaker David Bakradze, and Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze.
During the meetings, it is envisaged to discuss the development of bilateral relations between both countries, including the topics related to preparations for the visit by the Georgian Prime Minister to Latvia on 15-16 September, the 1st meeting of the Latvia-Georgia Intergovernmental Commission and the Latvia-Georgia Business Forum, the situation in Georgia and in South Caucasus region as a whole, as well as the EU-Georgia and NATO-Georgia topical agendas.
Also as part of the visit, the Foreign Minister is planning to meet with the Head of the European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM), Hansjorg Haber, as well as to acquaint himself with the practical activities of the EU observer mission in the areas close to the administrative border with South Ossetia.
The Foreign Minister of Georgia, Grigol Vashadze, was on an official visit in Latvia on 2-3 July this year.
