Latvia welcomes Armenia-Turkey agreement on normalisation of relations
On 31 August, Armenia, Turkey and Switzerland, a mediator in the process of regulating Armenia-Turkey relations, issued a joint statement on their intention to begin consultations regarding possibilities for the normalisation of bilateral relations.
Latvia welcomes the agreement reached by Armenia and Turkey to begin bilateral consultations on the establishment of diplomatic relations and expresses hope that the consultation process will be successful and serve as a basis for furthering bilateral relations. The normalisation of relations between Armenia and Turkey will also leave a positive impact on the stabilisation of the security situation in the South Caucasus.
