Foreign Ministry announcement on Geneva talks regarding Iran's nuclear programme
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses hope that today's negotiations, where the permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany meet with Iran, will result in a positive signal for a further solution to the nuclear issue of Iran.
Reportedly, repeated talks between China, France, Germany, Great Britain, Russia, the U.S. and chief negotiator of Iran Saeed Jalili take place on 1 October in Geneva. Specific aspects of nuclear programme are planned to be discussed at the meeting.
Last week it was unveiled that there is a new uranium enrichment site in the territory of Iran which was previously unknown to the International Atomic Energy Agency. This development alongside ballistic missile tests carried out by Iran promotes instability in the region and raises concerns in the international community.
Taking into account the above, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is of the opinion that Iran has to benefit from all advantages offered by multilateral negotiations to create the confidence that its nuclear programme is intended for purely peaceful aims.
