Latvia expresses concern over North Korea's nuclear test
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses its concern over the news that on 25 May North Korea conducted yet another nuclear test, as well as test-launched several short-range missiles.
Together with other European Union member states and NATO countries, Latvia condemns such acts by North Korea identifying them as a threat to international peace and stability in the region.
The Foreign Ministry calls upon North Korea to comply with all the resolutions by the UN Security Council that envisage banning of nuclear weapons and related programmes.
Latvia as a state party to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons urges North Korea to resume the status of a party to the Treaty as well as to comply with the provisions of the safeguards agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency.
