Foreign Minister Maris Riekstins and Foreign Ministers of Estonia, Lithuania and from Germany to hold Political Consultations

On 15 May, Foreign Minister Maris Riekstins will travel to Palanga in Lithuania for a meeting and Political Consultations among Foreign Ministers from the Baltic states and from Germany.

Within the framework of the political consultations, the ministers will be discussing current EU issues, including the progress of the Treaty of Lisbon ratification process, the outcome of the Eastern Partnership summit and other international political concerns.

These consultations between Baltic state and German foreign ministers first took place in Leipzig on 28 August 1996 at the initiative of the then German Minister for Foreign Affairs, Klaus Kinkel.  These are now the 11th such consultations.
