Ambassador of Latvia to Romania signs agreement on protection of classified information

On 11 June in Bucharest, the Ambassador of Latvia to Romania, Alberts Sarkanis, and the Director General of the National Registry Office for Classified Information of the Government of Romania, Marius Petrescu, signed Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Latvia and the Government of the Republic of Romania on Mutual Protection of Classified Information.

At the ceremony, the Ambassador of Latvia emphasised the importance of the Agreement for Latvian-Romanian future co-operation in the protection of classified information both within the context of European and Euro-Atlantic security, and at the level of security institutions of both countries.

The Agreement lays down the procedures for the safeguarding of the exchange and use of classified information at the level of public institutions, of public and private legal persons in both countries in accordance with mutual legal obligations.
