Foreign Minister Maris Riekstins to take part in CBSS Ministerial Session in Denmark [02 Jun 2009]

On 3-4 June, Foreign Minister Maris Riekstins will participate in the 15th Ministerial Session of the Council of the Baltic Sea States in Elsinore, Denmark.

During the meeting, Minister Riekstins is to pronounce an address on the possibilities for the future enhancement of co-operation in the Baltic Sea Region.

At the conclusion of the Ministerial Session, a communication will be adopted that evaluates the performance of the Danish presidency in the implementation of the Riga declaration of June 2008, and outlines further tasks for the reform process in the organisation. 

In connection with the CCBSS, Baltic Development Forum will hold an energy and climate seminar "Creating a Green Valley on top of Europe – different scenarios".

The CBSS, established in 1992, is a political intergovernmental forum of the region. It includes 11 member countries – Estonia, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Russia and Sweden, as well as the European Commission. The organisation's presidency follows the rotation principle. Denmark held the CBSS presidency from 1 July 2008 to 30 June 2009.
