On 25 August, Foreign minister Maris Riekstins will meet the Foreign Minister of Austria, Dr Michael Spindelegger, who arrives on an official visit to Riga.

The topics to be discussed include the development of bilateral relations between Latvia and Austria, with a particular focus on economic co-operation, including co-operation with Austria's federal lands. The ministers are expected to exchange opinions on the economic and financial situation. Also on the agenda there are regional partnership issues and the issues on the European Union agenda – the Eastern Partnership, the Lisbon Treaty, and energy and climate policy.

As part of his official visit to Riga, the Austrian Foreign Minister will meet with President Valdis Zatlers, Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis as well as Deputy Speaker of the Saeima, Solvita Aboltina.
