Foreign Minister Maris Riekstins has conveyed condolences to the Foreign Minister of Iraq, Hoshyar Zibari, with regard to the series of bombings on 19 August in the centre of Baghdad that killed 95 and injured upwards of 500 people.

In his letter, Minister Riekstins extended his sympathies to the families and friends of those killed and wounded, and condemned the acts of violence that destabilize the situation in Iraq. The Foreign Minister expressed support to the government of Iraq in its fight against terrorism and to the steps taken to regulate the situation in the region.
