On 4 August, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Egypt to Latvia, H.E. Samah Mohamed Sotouhi, was on a farewell visit to the Head of the Bilateral Relations Directorate, Ambassador Eduards Stiprais.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the co-operation between Latvia and Egypt in culture, education and archeology, as well as strengthening the legal framework of both countries. During his term of office, Ambassador Sotouhi has promoted the political dialogue between Latvia and Egypt by ensuring an intensive exchange of visits by senior officials, and has facilitated the opening, on 3 March this year, of the Latvian Embassy in Egypt, which is the first embassy of Latvia on the continent of Africa and in the Arab world. The Ambassador of Egypt to Latvia, Samah Mohamed Sotouhi, was accredited in October 2005. (End of text) | |||||
