Foreign Minister to meet with new Lithuanian Ambassador to Latvia

On 19 November, the new Lithuanian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Latvia, Antanas Valionis, will meet with Minister for Foreign Affairs Maris Riekstins as part of his accreditation visit. 

At the meeting, it is expected to discuss current issues and future co-operation possibilities between Latvia and Lithuania.

During his diplomatic career, Antanas Valionis has served as Lithuanian Ambassador to Poland, Bulgaria, and Romania. Between 2000 and 2006 Ambassador Valionis was Foreign Minister of Lithuania and led the Lithuanian delegation during the EU accession talks. From 2006 to 2008, the Lithuanian Ambassador was a Member of the Seimas and the Deputy Chairman of the Seimas Committee on European Affairs.
