Baltic state Seminar on the Treaty of Lisbon on 7 May
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Technical Assistance and Information Exchange unit (TAIEX) of the European Commission invite those interested to take part in a seminar to debate the practical aspects of the Treaty of Lisbon. The seminar will take place on 7 May in the Hotel Riga, at Aspazijas bulvaris 22.
The objective of the seminar is to gather high-level Baltic state experts, lawyers, NGO representatives, journalists, and other interested parties to discuss impact of the Treaty of Lisbon on the EU and on Latvia.
The seminar will consist of three panel discussions:
1st The Democratisation of European Integration – Council – National Parliaments – European Parliament – Chances and Challenges of the New Subsidiarity Procedure
2nd Democratic Legitimacy and Organised Civil Society Participation
3rd Implications of the Treaty of Lisbon for New Members of the Schengen Area
The seminar will be held in Latvian and English, with simultaneous interpretation.
