Minister Riekstins pleased with Riga Council decision to rename boulevard in memory of Latvia's first Foreign Minister

Foreign Minister Maris Riekstins expresses his satisfaction at the decision of 21 July by Riga City Councillors to renew the historic name of the present Basteja bulvaris as Zigfrida Annas Meierovica bulvaris.

"On the eve of Latvia's 90^th anniversary, the renewal of Zigfrida Annas Meierovica bulvaris is a remarkable appreciation of the first Minister for Foreign Affairs of Latvia, and a wonderful present to all the people of Latvia," said Mr Riekstins.

To immortalise the memory of the first Foreign Minister, it is planned to open a Z. A. Meierovics Room at the Ministry with a commemorative plaque the design of which was selected in a special competition.
