Foreign Minister on working visit to Rezekne

On 17 July Foreign Minister Maris Riekstins will make a working visit to Rezekne, with the aim of reviewing with the city administration and businesspeople the interests of the region and opportunities for facilitating international co-operation.

The Foreign Minister is expected to meet with Mayor Juris Guntis Vjakse, who will report on the current state of affairs in Rezekne and the city's experience in collaborating with twin cities abroad.

As part of his visit, Mr Riekstins will open a press conference organised by the Foreign Ministry and the Rezekne Town Council intended for regional journalists of Latgale and other interested parties, about what should be known when travelling abroad, as well as about the responsibilities of consular officials and opportunities to help Latvians abroad.

The Foreign Minister also plans to visit the Rezekne State Border Guard College, where he will discuss with the administration the position of Latvian foreign policy in relation to the participation in international missions by State Border Guard experts and representatives of this higher education institution.
