Council of Europe Convention on the Prevention of Terrorism approved by Cabinet of Ministers

On 14 July the Council of Europe Convention on the Prevention of Terrorism was endorsed in the Cabinet of Ministers for further ratification in the Saeima.   

The Convention stipulates that, in its signatory states, criminal liability is to be determined for actions which might lead to terrorist offences. The Convention was signed on 19 May 2006. The amendments to the Criminal Law necessary for the ratification of the Convention were adopted by the Saeima on 13 December 2006.
