Foreign Minister Maris Riekstins will meet with Kaspars Gerhards, the Minister of Economics, on 15 January in order to consider how to protect Latvia's external economic interests and co-operation abroad.
At the meeting, energy policy in an international perspective and renewable energy resources will be discussed.
The government's role in the promotion of exports and attraction of investment is included in the agenda. In this respect, the ministers will also consider how to best enhance the work of Latvian economic missions abroad.
Maris Riekstins will inform the Minister of Economics about the activities of the Foreign Ministry in relation to the conclusion of the Latvian presidency at the summit of the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS), which is due to take place in Riga this June. According to the Foreign Minister, it is important to hold some large-scale events together with the Ministry of Economics regarding the dynamics of economic co-operation among the states of the Baltic Sea Region.
