Changes in composition of Latvia-Russia Inter-governmental Commission announced at state secretary meeting
On Thursday 10 January, the draft order "Amendments to the Cabinet of Ministers order No. 165 of 21 March 2007 On the Latvia-Russia Inter-governmental Commission" was announced at the state secretary meeting. The amendments provide for the appointment of Atis Slakteris, the Minister of Finance, as chairman of the Latvian side of the Latvia-Russia Inter-governmental Commission (IGC).
Changes to the composition of the IGC needed to be introduced as a new government was appointed on 20 December 2007.
To date, the chairman of the Latvian side of the IGC was the then Minister of Finance, Oskars Spurdzins, who chaired the first session of the IGC on 20 July last year in Riga.
