Foreign Ministry discusses communication campaign for Lisbon Treaty with NGOs
On 29 February at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs a discussion took place about a series of communication events in relation to the Lisbon Treaty, which is one of this year's EU institution joint communication themes. During the discussion, participants reviewed the planned public outreach events which are intended to raise public awareness of the Treaty and the practical issues for its implementation once the Treaty enters into force. As part of the communication events, the Foreign Ministry in association with other government institutions as well as with NGO's is planning to hold a series of events addressing different target audiences in Riga and elsewhere in Latvia.
The discussion was chaired by Ilze Juhansone, the Foreign Ministry Under-Secretary of State, EU Issues. Taking part in the debate were representatives from associations the European Movement - Latvia, Civic Alliance - Latvia, the Club The House - Youth for United Europe, the Centre for Public Policy Providus, the Employers' Confederation of Latvia, as well as from the EU Information Agency.
