Saeima adopts Law on International Assistance

 

On 24 April, the Saeima passed in the third reading the Law on International Assistance, which had been drawn up by the Foreign Ministry. The adoption of the law is a significant step, promoting Latvia's active involvement in providing assistance to states with lower development indicators.    

The objective of the new law is to ensure effective and transparent planning and also implementation of the assistance provided by Latvia.  

The international assistance being provided by Latvia is gradually increasing in volume. For that reason the adoption of the law, which precisely defines the issues related to the provision of assistance, is of great significance.
