Foreign Ministry Under-Secretary of State discusses regional stability reinforcement and security improvement at GUAM state conference
Foreign Ministry Under-Secretary of State Edgars Skuja and Latvian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mihails Popovs are participating in the conference Basic Principles for the Settlement of the Conflicts in the Territories of the GUAM States, which is devoted to resolving the current conflicts in the territories of the GUAM states: Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, and Moldova.
In his speech, Under-Secretary of State Skuja highlighted the significance of conflict resolution to the reinforcement of the stability in the whole region and to the improvement of security. Mr Skuja also drew attention to the crucial role in this process of the EU, UN, and OSCE as international mediators.
The conference is taking place in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, from 15 to 16 April.
The GUAM - Organization for Democracy and Economic Development is a regional organisation uniting Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, and Moldova. Its objective is to promote regional co-operation in economy and security.
