On 5 and 6 September Foreign Minister Maris Riekstins will participate in an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers, (Gymnich), in Avignon, France.
At the meeting, the ministers will exchange opinions on the crisis in Georgia, EU relations with Russia, transatlantic contacts following the upcoming U.S. presidential elections, a revision of the European Security Strategy, and the Middle East peace process.
An informal meeting of EU foreign ministers takes place once during every EU presidency.
