On 26 June in Riga, political consultations were held between Latvia and Austria, chaired on the Latvian side by Normans Penke, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and on the Austrian side – by Johannes Kyrle, Secretary General of the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria.
During the consultations, both parties reviewed bilateral relations, especially the well-established political dialogue, as well as co-operation within the framework of international organisations. The issues concerning the Western Balkans region, the eastern dimension of the European Neighbourhood Policy, and energy were also debated.
Earlier Latvia-Austria consultations on the European Union topics took place on 1 April this year in Vienna.
