On 26 June, the third political consultations between the Republic of Latvia and the Arab Republic of Egypt will be held in Riga.
During the consultations, the parties will assess bilateral co-operation between the two countries, with a special focus on the areas of economy, culture and education, and will also evaluate the international co-operation between Latvia and Egypt. Regional issues and current international events will also be discussed.
The consultations will be led by Edgars Skuja, Under Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, and by Hisham Mohamed Badr, Egypt's Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs.
The Egyptian delegation has also scheduled a meeting with Vaira Paegle, Head of the European Affairs Commission of the Saeima.
Earlier political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Latvia and Egypt took place in 1995 and 1998.
