Foreign Minister stresses necessity to facilitate political dialogue between Baltic and Nordic countries, and Central Asian countries
On 17 June, Foreign Minister Maris Riekstins met with Pierre Morel, the European Union Special Representative for Central Asia.
During the meeting, the parties reviewed further steps for the implementation of the European Union's Central Asia Strategy, as well as opportunities for the development of a more active co-operation between the Baltic and Nordic region and Central Asian countries. Mr Morel commended Latvia's readiness to get involved in the implementation of concrete projects in Central Asia, for example, in the field of education.
Foreign Minister Riekstins emphasised the need to facilitate political dialogue with the Central Asian countries as well as to activate economic relations.
