Collaboration in education to be reviewed in Baltic, Nordic, and Central Asian state political consultations

Political consultations between the Baltic, Nordic, and Central Asian states are being held in Riga on 17 June. Pierre Morel, the EU Special Representative for Central Asia, is also taking part in the talks. The objective of the political consultations is to examine the prospects for co-operation between Baltic, Nordic, and Central Asian states, focusing on collaboration in education.

Foreign Ministry Political Director Peteris Ustubs is the chair of these consultative discussions, which will cover the implementation of an EU strategy for Central Asia and possible co-operation in numerous fields which are included in the strategy such as education, regional security, and energy. Representatives of the European Commission and Latvian higher education institutions are also participating in the political consultations. Representatives of Central Asian states are scheduled for several meetings in the Saeima and with the European Commission's Representation in Latvia.
