Hassan Gashghavi, Ambassador of Islamic Republic of Iran on farewell visit to Latvia
On 17 June, Hassan Gashghavi, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, is on a farewell visit to Latvia. The Ambassador is to meet with Foreign Ministry Under-Secretary of State, Edgars Skuja.
Latvia invites Iran to co-operate with the International Atomic Energy Agency as well as to provide comprehensive answers to inquiries by the international community, in order to dissipate concern regarding the military nature of its nuclear programme.
Within the framework of this position, Latvia supports the common EU stand that a dual-track approach be pursued in relations with Iran: to impose restrictions against Iran until it starts full co-operation with the International Atomic Energy Agency on the issue of nuclear activities, but at the same time to maintain co-operation at the technical level, in areas of mutual interest and significance, for example, in the field of culture, in co-operation between NGOs and in transport.
The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Latvia, Hassan Gashghavi, was accredited on 26 April 2005.
