Foreign Ministry holds annual training in economics issues for representatives of Latvia abroad

16 Jun 2008

From 16 to 20 June, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in association with the Ministry of Economy and the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA), is holding its annual training for diplomats in charge of economic matters in Latvia's embassies and for LIAA representatives abroad.

The training programme includes presentations and discussions on topics which are vital for a successful implementation of the foreign economic policy: analysis of key macro-economic indicators, the economic dimension in the formation of Latvia's positive image, and the marketing strategy for Latvia as a tourist destination. Separate sectors of importance for the economic development – the questions of transport and logistics, and the energy policy are also being dealt with in detail. The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Latvia and the Employers' Confederation of Latvia will present their view on processes in Latvia's economy.

Participants are provided with an opportunity to establish new contacts with representatives from co-operation institutions and companies, both during meetings in several contact forums and through visits to enterprises.
