Latvia represented at World Forum on Music in Beijing

From 11 to 17 October, the World Forum on Music took place in Beijing for the second time with the support of the Chinese Musicians' Association and the International Music Council, gathering the best or most knowledgeable representatives of their field from several countries.

Ugis Praulins, Chairman of the Latvian Composers' Union, presented a paper entitled An Insight into the Foundations of Latvian Folk Culture on 12 October.

The World Forum on Music, which was devoted to the diversity of world cultures and the inheritance of traditions, from 14 to 16 October, was also included in the agenda of the International Music Council 32nd General Assembly.

The focus of the International Music Council is to follow modern trends in music development, to promote the composition of music and its recognition, as well as to facilitate professional and rational management.

Ugis Praulins' visit to China took place with the support of the Latvian Embassy in China, the Latvian State Culture Capital Foundation, the Latvian Composers' Union, the Latvian Ministry of Culture, and the Chinese Musicians' Association.
