Seminar for Latvian and Norwegian tourism professionals "Discover Latvia in Winter"

17 Oct 2007

On 17 October 2007, at the conference centre of the Continental hotel in Oslo, tourism professionals will have the opportunity to attend the seminar Discover Latvia in Winter. The seminar is being held in co-operation with the Latvian Embassy in Norway, the Latvian Tourism Development Agency and its representation in Sweden.

The opening address at the seminar will be made by Maris Klisans, the Latvian Ambassador to Norway, followed by presentations on travel opportunities in Latvia from the Latvian airline airBaltic, the Latvian Tourism Development Agency, and by tourism and information centres of the cities of Riga and Jurmala.

As part of the event, tourism professionals will also have individual meetings for the purpose of strengthening existing contacts and establishing new contacts between Latvian and Norwegian companies.

Latvia is represented at the seminar by 16 companies. The seminar will also be attended by 25 Norwegian travel companies and a number of journalists.

It is interesting to note that this is the first seminar of this type in Norway, which will hopefully gain recognition and will promote new tourism opportunities in Latvia and in Norway.

The number of Norwegian tourists has grown from 10.8 thousand tourists in 2000 to 26.3 thousand tourists in 2005. In 2006, 54.3 thousand Norwegian tourists visited Latvia.

Travellers now already have the opportunity to travel in both directions from Riga to Oslo, Bergen, Stavanger, and Trondheim. Three direct flights operate daily between Riga and Oslo.
