On 3 October, thirteen Moldovan journalists met with representatives of the Foreign Ministry to become familiarised with Latvia's experience in acceding to the EU and NATO.

Foreign Ministry Security Policy Department Director Kaspars Ozolins expressed support for Moldova's efforts at integrating into the EU and closer co-operation with NATO. He indicated that from an organisational and resources point of view, it is beneficial to head towards both organisations simultaneously. Also meeting with the media representatives was Foreign Ministry Permanent Representative Committee Preparation Division (COREPER I) Head, Martins Kreituss, and Eduard Melnic, the Moldovan Ambassador to Latvia.

The Moldovan journalists are visiting Latvia as part of the project Latvia – EU and NATO Member State. The project is being implemented by the Latvian Transatlantic Organisation (LATO) with support from the Latvian Foreign Ministry, Defence Ministry, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and Soros Foundation-Latvia. The project's objective is to familiarise interested members of the national media with the experience acquired by Latvia during its reform and Euroatlantic integration processes.

Sharing the experience of reform with EU and NATO partner states is one of Latvia's foreign policy priorities. It is proposed that between 2-31 October, media representatives from Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine will arrive in Latvia on separate visits.
