Latvia - Russia Intergovernmental Commission in Moscow to discuss co-operation between both countries

On 23 March 2007, in Moscow, Finance Minister Oskars Spurdzins, the Chairman of the Latvian - Russian Intergovernmental Commission in the areas of economic, scientific and technical, humanitarian and cultural co-operation will meet with his Russian counterpart and Minister of Transport, Igor Levitin.

It is envisaged that agreement will be achieved at the meeting on the principles for further operation of the Committee, and the discussions will also cover the list of issues for review by the Commission. The representatives could also agree on the time for the next committee meeting, which is scheduled to take place in Riga.

Both chairmen expect to discuss a number of current issues of practical bilateral co-operation, including a range of issues related to increasing of the capacity of border control points, the Russian railway tariffs policy, Russian export duties for timber, and exports of Latvian fishery products to Russia.
