Foreign Ministry State Secretary to participate in Latvia-U.S. political consultations in Washington, DC
On 7 March 2007, the Foreign Ministry State Secretary, Normans Penke, will make a visit to the United States to participate in the Latvia-U.S. political consultations to be held on 8-9 March in Washington, DC.
The meeting will focus on different global, regional and bilateral political, security and economic issues including mutual co-operation in the introduction of a visa-free regime.
As part of the visit, Mr Penke will have a number of meetings with officials from the U.S. Department of State, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Department of Defense. Mr Penke will also meet with representatives from the U.S. Senate and Congress and with the ambassadors of the Nordic and Baltic countries (NB8) in Washington, DC.
On 12 March, at 2.30 pm the Foreign Ministry Press Centre will hold a news conference for the media regarding the consular issues and the State Secretary Penke's visit to the United States. The news conference will be held at the Foreign Ministry's third floor conference hall.
