On 20 November 2006, the Latvian Embassy in London hosted a reception for young Latvian architects, the winners of the students' competition on the development of an environment-friendly and energy-efficient family house project. As part of the Queen of England's visit to Latvia, the winners of the competition were presented with the Duke of Edinburgh Award – a visit to London and its vicinity to be familiarized with the British architecture.
The young architects, Ints Mengelis, Dace Gurecka, and Aija Morica who are 2nd year students at the Riga Technical University will be on a visit to the United Kingdom from 18 to 25 November. As part of their visit, meetings are scheduled at the Royal Institute of British Architects, the Centre for Alternative Technology, and to the Sherwood Energy Village.
