On 27 October 2003, the United Kingdom officially announced the Parliament's ratification of NATO Accession Protocols of Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia. The documents were deposited with the US State Department. The UK Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jack Straw, congratulated the prospective NATO members, including Latvia, on their work toward integration into the Alliance. The United Kingdom is the eleventh country to ratify the Protocols to the North Atlantic Treaty. To date, the ratification process has been concluded in Canada, Norway, United States, Denmark, Hungary, Luxembourg, Germany, Italy, Czech Republic and Poland.
