On 5 November 2003, the Turkish Parliament endorsed the Accession Protocols to the North Atlantic Treaty of the seven countries invited to join the Alliance. This legal act will enter force after it is signed by Turkey's president and published in the official government gazette. Turkey is the 13th country to vote for the admission to NATO of the seven candidate countries. The Protocols of Accession are still to be ratified by France, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Iceland.
