Latvian drawing wins NATO Summit Secretariat Children's Drawing Competition [22 Nov 2002] |

On 22 October 2002 the awards ceremony for national round winners of the international children's competition "A Safer World" was held in Riga. The best drawings were sent to Prague, where they took part in the international competition "A Safer World", organised by the NATO Prague Summit Secretariat. The international competition closed on 22 November. Participants in the competition were children from the Czech Republic and "Vilnius 10" group of countries, aged between 6 and 15 years. The Latvian Ambassador to the Czech Republic Iveta Sulca received the award for first place from the NATO Secretary General Lord Robertson, won by Sabine Dreimane from Valka for her drawing "Sisters' Duet". The award will be passed on the winner in the near future. The winning entry from Latvia features on the cover of a set of postcards issued in honour of the NATO Prague Summit. | |||||
