State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs participates in a conference on WTO issues [11 May 2001]

On 11 May 2001 the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mr Maris Riekstins participates in a ministerial conference of the European Commission and the EU candidate countries on World Trade Organisation (WTO) issues. The conference takes place in Ljubljana.

The conference is aimed at supporting launching of a new multilateral negotiation round during the WTO Ministerial Conference in Doha in November this year. At the conclusion of the Ljubljana conference a joint declaration is expected to be signed that would serve as a political signal for other member states on the necessity to launch a new multilateral round of negotiations.
