On 14 March 2018 in Stockholm, Sweden, the State Secretary of the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Andrejs Pildegovičs, will take part in the meeting of State Secretaries of the Baltic and Nordic countries in the NB8 (Nordic–Baltic Eight) format. The meeting will address the topics related to regional security and the energy sector, Brexit, cooperation in the UN, and relations between the NB8 region and China.
The NB8 format comprises Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway and Sweden. It brings together members of parliament, prime ministers, ministers, state secretaries, political directors of the Foreign Ministries as well as experts for regular consultations on topics of current importance in regional cooperation and on the international agenda. Sweden is coordinating the work of NB8 in 2018.
After the NB8 meeting, the Embassy of Latvia in Sweden will host a meeting between Andrejs Pildegovičs and no-resident ambassadors to Latvia. State Secretary Pildegovičs will brief them about latest developments in the country and upcoming events to celebrate Latvia’s centenary.
