On 9 March 2018, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted a seminar on infrastructure security. Taking part in the event were experts from Latvia and the United Kingdom, as well as Latvian businesses. The participants shared views on infrastructure protection and cyber security. Attention was also devoted to the role of public-private partnership in ensuring vital public services.
The State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Andrejs Pildegovičs, highlighted the successful cooperation between Latvia and the UK on security-related issues, and he pointed to the increasing importance of protecting critical infrastructure and of cyber security. The State Secretary called for a continued enhancement of cooperation with the private sector and raising awareness among the general public of the new security challenges.
The seminar on infrastructure topics was organised by the Embassy of the United Kingdom in Latvia in association with the Latvian Foreign Ministry. The event brought together more than 40 participants from Latvian public authorities and the private sector.
