On 9 March in Sofia, Bulgaria, the Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Zanda Kalniņa-Lukaševica, will take part in a high-level conference on the EU’s Multiannual Financial Framework after 2020. The conference will include a political discussion about the future of EU public finances. In the discussion, the Parliamentary Secretary will present Latvia’s opinion on priorities in the EU multiannual budget.
This is the last high-level conference before the Commission’s proposal for the EU’s post-2020 Multiannual Financial Framework, the publication of which is expected on 2 May.
Remarks at the event will be delivered by high-ranking participants, including Günther Oettinger, Commissioner for Budget and Human Resources, Jan Olbrycht, MEP, Member of the Committee on Budgets, Klaus-Heiner Lehne, President of the European Court of Auditors, and Tomislav Donchev, Vice Prime Minister of Bulgaria. The conference is organised by Bulgaria, the country holding the presidency of the Council of the EU in the first half of 2018.
On 8 March, Zanda Kalniņa-Lukaševica is taking part in a seminar dedicated to the future and values of Europe and organised by a Brussels-based “Friends of Europe” think-tank.
