Minister Rinkēvičs will be accompanied by more than 20 representatives of leading Latvian companies working in the sectors of information and communication technologies, cosmetics industry, timber processing, jewellery, education, food processing, design and construction, and advisory services.

During meetings, the parties will discuss bilateral relations between Latvia and Kuwait, especially cooperation in business and education, as well as regional issues of current interest for both countries, and their work together in international organisations. At the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Edgars Rinkēvičs will open the Latvia-Kuwait Business Forum. Two intergovernmental agreements have also been prepared for signing: an Agreement on Economic and Technical Cooperation, and an Agreement on the Exemption of Visa Requirements for Holders of Diplomatic, Service and Special passports.

The promotion of business contacts with the countries of the Gulf Region is one of Latvia’s priorities in its external economic policy. In terms of total trade in goods, Kuwait is the third major partner to Latvia among the Gulf States.
