On 8 August State Secretary Andrejs Pildegovičs met with Kozidavlat Koimdodov (Козидавлат Коимдодов), the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to Latvia, who was on his farewell visit.
During the meeting the State Secretary thanked the Ambassador for contribution to strengthening bilateral relations between Latvia and Tajikistan and approved of current cooperation between both countries. Officials were of the same opinion that the bilateral high level dialogue between Latvia and Tajikistan should be further developed and economical cooperation between both countries should be facilitated, in particular focusing on the area of transportation and logistics.
The Ambassador of Tajikistan expressed gratitude for support provided by Latvia acting within international organisations and emphasised the importance of support given by the European Union to the Central Asian region. State Secretary Pildegovičs confirmed the intention of Latvia to continue to maintain active and friendly bilateral relations with Tajikistan and other Central Asia countries, as well as to promote cooperation of these countries with the European Union.
The Ambassador Kozidavlat Koimdodov has been accredited to Latvia since 15 June 2012.
