Ambassador Gints Jegermanis assumes duties of the MFA Press Secretary

As from 1 August 2017, Gints Jegermanis will hold the post of the Head of the Communications Directorate – Press Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Prior to this appointment, Gints Jegermanis was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to Sweden (2013-2017), Denmark (2009-2013) and Estonia (1998-2001), as well as Permanent Representative to UN, New York (2001-2005). He also headed the Planning Group at the Foreign Ministry (2005-2009) and served as Counsellor at the Latvian Embassy in Russia (1995-1998). Jegermanis entered Foreign Service in 1994 and began his diplomatic career as Counsellor at the Planning Group (1994-1995).

Gints Jegermanis has been awarded the Commander of the Royal Order of the Polar Star (Sweden), the Commander of the Order of the Dannebrog (Denmark), the Cross of Recognition, 2nd class (Latvia), and the Order of the Cross of Terra Mariana, 1st class (Estonia), as well as receiving other high honours.

Gints Jegermanis speaks several foreign languages: English, Russian, Estonian, Swedish, Danish, French, Lithuanian, and German.
