Latvian Ambassador to Austria, Veronika Erte, receives her letters of credence

In an official ceremony on 28 July, the President of Latvia, Raimonds Vējonis, presented letters of credence to Veronika Erte, the designate Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Latvia to the Republic of Austria.

Veronika Erte is currently Ambassador-Chief of the State Protocol and Ambassador of Latvia to the Holy See and to the Sovereign Order of Malta, resident in Riga.  From 2008 to 2013, she was Latvian Ambassador to Hungary and Montenegro, resident in Budapest.

Veronika Erte entered the Foreign Service in 1995. Since then, she has held various positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including that of Director of the European Department, as well as serving at the Embassies of Latvia in Germany and Austria.

Veronika Erte is to succeed Edgars Skuja, who has held the post of the Latvian Ambassador to Austria since 2013.
