The 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Latvia and Belarus

On 10 April, at the national Library of Latvia (NLL), the Latvian Foreign Ministry’s State Secretary Andrejs Pildegovičs and Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus Oleg Kravchenko opened an event to mark the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Latvia and Belarus.

The event saw the unveiling of an exhibition dedicated to the 25 years of diplomatic relations between both countries and arranged by the Embassy of Belarus in Latvia in association with the Latvian Foreign Ministry, and an exhibition by the Belarusian News Agency, BelTA, entitled “Belarus Today”.

The NLL also received as a gift from the National Library of Belarus an electronic copy of the facsimile edition of books by the first Belarusian book printer, Francisk Skorina, dedicated to the scholar’s 500th anniversary. 

The exhibitions will be on public display at the NLL until 30 April.

The reception was held by the Embassy of Belarus in Riga.

The protocol on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Latvia and the Republic of Belarus was signed on 7 April 1992.
